What on earth is that? The iMIEV Sport, a teardrop coupe based on the same running gear as the regular iMIEV (more of which shortly), but with two in-wheel electric motors at the front to complement the single electric motor under the boot driving the rear wheels. The firm says the set-up can mimic the four-wheel drive grip of the S-AWC system used in the Evo X, but there are no plans to put it into production.
There's never been a forced induction-endowed production Caterham Seven until now, but supercharging is announcing its arrival in the lightweight special in a big way: the new Superlight R600 is the fastest Seven racing car the company has ever built. Competing in the Superlight R600 Championship from 2013, the racer is the most extreme machine yet from Caterham to take to the circuit, but CAR hears there'll be a road legal version along soon for hardcore track day fans. It’s been a busy week for Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezmolo. First he announced his resignation (effective from October) from the Italian sports car firm after 23 years at the helm. Then he proclaimed record financial results for Ferrari for the first six months of 2014 (£101.4 million profit) before declaring a special Ferrari model will be unveiled in October to celebrate 60 years of the Prancing Horse in America.
